"Back in my day" haha. No but I think there is some serious differences between how you manage Windows/Mac/Linux. I was in an environment where we deployed all of them with different types of usage. Our developers used Mac and they had of course unique requirements for access etc.
I think a lot of it starts hands-on and then moves to automated if you can. Some of it however for certain users like devops, you just hand them a machine and say god-speed
