I’m back again to help you stay updated on the latest threats and breakthroughs in cybersecurity. This week, I’ve handpicked four stories that showcase just how inventive and relentless cybercriminals can be!

Jump in and explore what’s happening behind the screens 👇

1️⃣ Ransomware groups behind 40% of 2024’s cyber attacks

Five ransomware groups - RansomHub, PLAY, LockBit 3.0, MEOW, and Hunters International, are responsible for nearly 40% of all cyber attacks this year 🧐

These groups are exploiting VPN vulnerabilities and weak passwords to wreak havoc across industries, with RansomHub emerging as a particularly concerning player.

It’s time we double down on our security programs to always stay ahead of their tactics

2️⃣ Apple rushes out emergency security updates

Apple has issued urgent updates for vulnerabilities in its JavaScriptCore and WebKit frameworks that hackers are actively exploiting. These flaws could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code or carry out cross-site scripting attacks.

Nah, we iFolks wouldn’t want that!

Updates are now available for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Get them rolling, stay protected ☀️

3️⃣ Microsoft takes down 240 phishing websites

In a major takedown operation, Microsoft has seized 240 phishing websites linked to DIY phishing kits developed by a cybercriminal in Egypt.

These kits made it easy for attackers to target financial institutions with large-scale phishing campaigns.

Isn’t it satisfying to see well-organized phishing ops disrupt and attackers face their consequences? 😌

4️⃣ QR code emails are a new phishing hack

According to Cisco Talos, 60% of emails with QR codes are spam, and some are outright malicious.

Attackers are using creative QR code art to make their scams more believable, bypassing traditional email security measures.

Turns out, cybercriminals are getting real good at innovation 💡

I hope these insights have helped you, it’s a bad bad cyber world out there! Your best defence is knowledge, make the most out of it 🔥

Any thoughts on the malware that has infected thousands of users via game dev tools?
