Hi JumpCloud Team,
I'm writing to suggest an enhancement to JumpCloud's software management capabilities. Currently, we can only assign software to device groups. While this works, it becomes challenging to manage large user bases with diverse needs.
I'd like to propose the ability to assign software/apps based on user groups or departments. This would simplify software deployment and ensure users receive the appropriate applications based on their roles. For example, HR could automatically get HR tools, Engineering could get development tools, and Sales could get CRM tools.
Thank you for considering this request. I believe it would add significant value to JumpCloud's offerings.

Do you think this type of feature would also work for other industries, or is it more specific to IT management?

Managing large user bases can be a headache, especially when everyone has different software needs. I’ve had a similar experience with organizing software for my HVAC business, and that’s when I started using FIELDBOSS HVAC Software to streamline things. It allowed me to assign tools based on job roles, so my field technicians got their dispatch and job management apps, while office staff got access to invoicing and scheduling tools. If JumpCloud could implement something similar for departments or roles, it would definitely make software deployment way smoother.
