    As a senior-level system administrator, you should have experience and training in technical design, planning, implementation, maintenance, and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical systems. You will serve as the technical expert in the area of system administration for complex operating systems. 

    Your education should include extensive knowledge of scripting and automation as well as a thorough knowledge of networks and their associated security concerns. 

    You will be responsible for:

    • Maintain, administer, and coordinate the day-to-day planning, design, operation, maintenance and resource allocation for host systems for the academic and administrative networks. Includes Hypervisor (Currently VMWare), Linux, and Windows.
    • Research, analyze, and monitor system activity and network efficiency, creating reports for management.
    • Serve as level 3 technical support.
    • Recommend hardware, software, and cloud service purchases.
    • Oversee inventory.
    • Create and manage IT projects.
    • Communicate between management and technical staff.
    • Assist IT Director with preparing the IT budget.
    • Assist IT Director with preparing the Technology Plan.
    • Assist IT Director with planning and execution of IT Strategy.
    • Assist IT Director in developing the Security Plan.
    • Conduct root-cause analysis by identifying sources of network issues.
    • Manage outside consultants.
    • Participate in vendor interviews.
    • Responsible for patch management of network infrastructure.
    • Provide technical training in procedures and proper use of equipment.

    You should show the following skills and experience:

    • Bachelor of Science in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
    • At least 4 years of experience at a mid-level.
    • Network+ certification.
    • Wifi certification.
    • 4 years experience with directory services.
    • SME level knowledge of networks.
    • Exceptional written and verbal skills.
    • Demonstrated presentation skills.
    • Proven project management skills.

    As a senior systems administrator, you are the SME (subject matter expert) over the entire IT infrastructure. Your depth of knowledge should be all-encompassing between networks and systems. Your team management skills should be well-developed.
