There you are, an IT Admin holding a computer that was used by a previous staff member, long gone from the company. You wipe it to start over for a new user, or to make a loaner, but it’s locked by Apple’s theft prevention tools called Activation Lock.

“Dagger,” you think, “there goes my day finding the receipts and taking it to Apple for reset.”

No Longer!

Apple has announced a change for organizations using Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager. You can now reset a company-owned device’s activation lock directly from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager!

Users with Admin or Device Manager permissions can now reset User-based or Device-based Activation Lock without a visit to Apple!
