This week we had a conversation with Ken Russell about IT Strategy, what it means, and how to carve out time to do one. We may have had some technical difficulties along the way but we powered through anyway and were able to give away some prizes again. Yay!

- Four Phases:
- Approach
- Initiation
- Fusion
- Measures (not metrics . . not yet)
- No strategy would be complete without specific, next step possibilities designed to improve and grow business functions
- One last thought: the value /importance of access, candor, and vision

L-I-S-T-E-N
A helpful learning mnemonic is the acronym: LISTEN.
Listening is perhaps the most important tool for a thoughtful leader. A thoughtful leader listens authentically, taking time to absorb what is happening all around.
L — Learn
Try to learn as much as you can about as much as you can, from others, from the environment, from your team — learn from everything that's around you.
I — Interpret
Take what you have learned and use it to interpret what it means and represents for your organization, and for the individuals on your team.
S — Shape
Everyone around you will tend to gravitate to what they know; learn to help them shape what they know and bring new ideas and new ways of thinking to the organization
T —Transform
Be ready for transformation, not mere change (where things may also change back or revert to the way things were). Be ready to transform the organization and go a new direction instead of just going the same old way.
E — Evolve
Evolution occurs when you're effective at all these things. A thoughtful leader evolves.
N — Nurture
Take the time and the opportunity to nurture your team; help them along, say connected and engage them with regular conversations. A thoughtful leader is always ready to nurture next.
