Today on The IT Hour, we discussed the amazing new JumpCloud University with Cheyenne and Ella from the learning team. New Core certification badges and even some new advanced programs will soon be launched. We will also be looking to bring badges into the community for the JCU.  So go earn your JC Core Cert if you haven't already. 

Community Update 

• Community Scripts Repo is here!!!!! With so many scripts coming in—and several requests for a place to put them—we set up a community repository for y’all. This isn’t limited to JumpCloud and you’re welcome to share any scripts that you’ve written that are helpful, or links to those you use regularly / can’t live without. We’ll also be adding a knowledge base for tutorials and guides shortly.
• We extended the Jumpies by a few days and nominations are still coming in. You have time to get your use case submitted for a chance to win a prize AND potentially come see us in person at our all company meeting.

IT Trending Updates “Rapid Fire Round”

• Apple digs into its massive pile of cash to fund new Pay Later service (Ars Technica)
• Apple is making its biggest move into finance by offering loans directly to consumers for its new buy now, pay later product, taking on a role played in its other lending services by banking partners such as Goldman Sachs.
  
  
• Microsoft accidentally turned off hardware requirements for Windows 11(The Register)
• Microsoft has accidentally turned off its controversial hardware compatibility check, thus offering Windows 11 to computers not on the list.
  
• Apple will allow Linux VMs to run Intel apps with Rosetta in macOS Ventura (Ars Technica)
• One of the few things that Intel Macs can do that Apple Silicon Macs can't is run operating systems written for Intel or AMD processors inside of virtual machines. Most notably, this has meant that there is currently no legal way to run Windows on an Apple Silicon Mac.
  
• Apple Just Killed the Password—for Real This Time (Wired)
• For years, we’ve been promised a more secure, password-free future, but it seems like 2022 will actually be the year that millions of people start to move away from passwords. At Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference yesterday, the company announced it will launch passwordless logins across Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs around September of this year. Instead of using passwords, you will be able to log in to websites and apps using “Passkeys” with iOS 16 and macOS Ventura. It’s the first major real-world shift to password elimination.
  
• Microsoft Endpoint Manager Gets App & Driver Compatibility Reports for Windows Updates (Petri)
• Microsoft has rolled out new Windows compatibility reports for Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM) in public preview. The new capabilities should enable IT admins to assess the application and driver compatibility of all devices prior to a feature update or Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade.
  
• New Linux Malware Dubbed “Almost Impossible” To Detect Found (IT Security Guru)
• A new form of Linux malware that is “almost impossible” to detect has been found in a joint research effort by BlackBerry Threat Research & Research team and Intezer security researcher Joakim Kennedy. It has been dubbed Symbiote.
