Today, Apple released macOS Sequoia 15.1, iPadOS 18.1, and iOS 18.1 and brought Apple Intelligence to customers. Along with powerful features for end users, Apple has also released MDM restrictions for managing which Apple Intelligence features are allowed on organization-owned devices. JumpCloud is excited to release support for Apple Intelligence MDM restrictions. Beginning today, JumpCloud admins can deliver the following controls to their iPhone, iPad and Mac devices capable of running Apple Intelligence:
- Restrict use of Writing Tools
- Restrict use of Genmoji
- Restrict use of Image Playground
- Restrict use of Mail Summaries
- Restrict use of Image Wand (iOS/iPadOS Only)
- Restrict use of Personal Handwriting (iOS/iPadOS Only)
- Disable Xcode Plugins for On Device Intelligence (macOS Only)
- Disable Xcode Remote Model Intelligence Tools (macOS Only)
These restrictions will allow organizations to be in control of their release of these functionalities for their employees and their devices.
Apple Intelligence provides a unique on-device set of models, as well as remote Private Cloud Compute models, for use as part of macOS 15.1 and iOS 18.1. While not all the features listed above may be in the releases for macOS 15.1 or iOS 18.1, JumpCloud can support their restrictions on macOS 15.1 and iOS 18.1 or later.
For organizations looking for additional details surrounding Private Cloud Compute, Apple has
released a security guide that covers substantial additional information about this functionality. In addition to the new Apple Intelligence policies, JumpCloud has added support for the Skip Key for Apple Intelligence to both iOS and macOS’s out-of-box experience based on automated device enrollment.
