Hello JumpCloud Community!

Here's what's new with Dynamic Device Groups

Windows Release Name

  • What: You can now create Dynamic Device Group rules based on the specific Windows release version (e.g., 22H2, 23H2)
  • Why: Granular targeting of Windows devices. Example use case: Patch Management - easily group devices running (or not running) a specific Windows release for targeted updates
  • How: Add a new rule with the releaseName attribute any Dynamic Device Group. Example:
    releaseName not equals 24H2

Device (Display) Name

  • What: Group devices based on the Device Display Name in addition to the existing Hostname attribute
  • Why: The Device Display Name can be used to label devices (e.g., by location, asset tag, etc.) without changing the underlying system hostname. Now, you can leverage this label directly in Dynamic Groups
  • How: To group all devices located in your corporate office based on a corresponding tag: CORP in the Display Name, you could add a new rule:
    displayName contains CORP

Get Started

You can start using these new attributes in your Device Group rules today - Create a new group or add these to an existing Dynamic Group. You can also add the Device Release Name as a column in the Devices list!

As always, we welcome your feedback and questions. Please let us know what you think!
